Ghazghkull Mag Uruk Thraka Created By Andy Chambers In 1991

So with the Heroes of Armageddon project recently starting on the Internet, I thought I would go back in time and find out exactly where the big man came from so,

I'm currently working on a couple of projects at the moment and have been looking through some of my old white dwarf magazines for much-needed inspiration, and recently came across number 134

This is the first time Ghazghkull was mentioned and was created by Andy Chambers back in the day in 1991, and he dedicated to numerous pages to the project in great detail within the pages of this white dwarf. I would highly recommend picking it up on eBay if you can. As I'm sure like me you will find that something new within its pages.

In the above picture what I really like is all the different elements and colour that really stand out on this page, from all the different boss polls, flags, and uniqueness of all the different unit types, that gives the whole army a sense of individuality and uniqueness something not seen and missing currently today in gamers armies.

The Inspiration

I especially love all the different units and themes throughout, something missing and seldom seen today in gamer armies and it really gives it a sense of old-school.

I especially like the use of this page explaining all the different symbols on the banner and fluff.

the man himself in all his glory or should I say Ork.

If you look closely you can see the use of all the ork shoota to represent status and hierarchy within the unit something which I'm going to do in the near future.

probably my favorite picture if you look in the background the ork building and the two battlewagons look amazing.

so to finish things off I'm going to try with my next project to incorporate some of the above character into the project so hopefully it shouldn't be too long before I post some pics.

So what I have learnt
1. To include more character in my next ork project?
2. Also to expand my colour scheme?

What I would do differently
1. look for more inspiration on the Internet when starting a project?
2. Give names to all my units?

  1. Good find!

This article is taken from 'Ere We Go (or that book incorporates this article) and I regularly refer to it for inspiration with my orks!

In the hardback book, there's a section on Andy Chambers choosing (rolling up) his army. This is how Gazkhull gets his psychic powers and bionic skull. It's also where mad Doc Grotsnik comes from.

The random charts could be risky things in those days!
